Hermannia grandiflora is an exceptionally beautiful bush when in flower. The flowers occur in springtime and brighten up the often barren desert landscape.
Hermannia grandiflora grows mainly in the southern and central Great Karoo.
The plants belong to the family Malvaceae. Common Afrikaans names include Ouma se Kappie, Klokkiebos and Heuningbossie. In English it is called Desert Rose.
