Ottosonderia monticola occurs in Namaqualand. Plants from this genus are unique in the development of their inflorescence. In the first year the flowering branch consists of a pair of leaves followed by two bracts and a single flower. In the second year buds in the axils of the two bracts develop into two flowers. This procedure repeats itself resulting in a broad cyme.
The flower colour of Ottosonderia monticola is pink or puple.Ottosonderia monticola in the Karoo Botanical Garden near Worcester.
